The aim of the course is to form an environmental outlook and the ability to assess their professional activities in terms of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources.

In recent decades, due to the steady development of global oil and gas production, the introduction of new technologies of development and extraction of hydrocarbons, the use of natural resources and subsoil for the needs of industry and the negative impact of human activities on the environment, the issue of environmental protection from anthropogenic impact has become acute. Successful solution of tasks in the field of nature protection is possible only with a high level of ecological knowledge and culture, especially among engineering personnel. Therefore existing and arising again ecological crises connected with industrial activity, oblige to comprehend and estimate newly formed idea of production efficiency, demand to examine its ecological safety and what is the most important, to form a new ecological thinking of each person. The task of mankind is to make active efforts to save the biosphere, the atmosphere, the Earth's bowels and, ultimately, itself from the destructive influence of the oil and gas production complex.

The most important component of any state's environmental policy is the training of specialists capable of solving environmental problems of various scales and in various industries.
